This year, involve your whole family in Thanksgiving decorations by making flowers out of paper. Paper flowers work well as table centerpieces. Create a few different-sized paper flowers and arrange them with florals, dried corn husks, and pumpkins for a memorable table setting!
Paper flowers could also serve as elegant decor on a minimal table setting or placed above an entryway in place of balloons.
In this post, I’ll show you how to make large paper flowers in just a few quick steps!
How to Make Large Paper Flowers
What you will need:
- Paper ( Construction paper works well. I used Contractor’s paper from Lowe’s)
- Scissors
- Stapler
Step 1: Create Your Petals
- Cut your petal shapes. Make 3 different sizes and cut 5 of each.
Step 2: Cut Your Paper Flowers
- Cut a slit in the bottom of each petal.
Step 3: Staple the Ends
- Overlap the two slits and staple them together. Note: Create less of an overlap for the larger petals. The more you overlap the taller the petals will stand. You will want your base layer, or larger petals, to rest down.
Step 4: Assemble Your Paper Flower
- Hot glue the base of each petal together, starting with your larger petals first. Don’t think too hard, just layer the petals on top of one another (largest to smallest).
There you go! You have created a large flower out of paper. You can also use a similar technique with Tissue Paper Flowers.
Several variations could include spray painting the paper flowers a metallic color to give the impression of weight. You could also decorate the flower petals before assembling the paper flower. As a true Thanksgiving activity, you could write on each petal with a gold Sharpie or paint pen in response to a prompt such as what are you most grateful for this year?
I would love to know how you end up using this project. Let us know in the comments below!
